Interim Superintendent of Schools Jonathan Ford is pleased to announce that Jake Dore has been selected as the next principal of the South Elementary School.
Mr. Dore has spent the last three years as the Assistant Principal at the Hooks Elementary School in Chelsea. He comes to Stoughton with both administrative and teaching experience, having served as an elementary school teacher and Science-Embedded Literacy Program Coordinator, also with the Chelsea Public Schools, before becoming an assistant principal.
“The District is very fortunate to be able to bring Principal Jake Dore to the South Elementary School for this coming school year,” Mr. Ford said. “Mr. Dore has already distinguished himself as a highly effective administrator in Chelsea, and we're looking forward to watching the impact his positive outlook and student focused approach have on the South School community.”
“I am so excited to become the new Principal of the South Elementary School! I have been looking for the perfect school to continue my career and I am thrilled for the opportunity to meet all of the South students, staff and families that make this community so special and continue the great work you all have been doing,” Mr. Dore said.
When researching the South School, Mr. Dore was drawn to a statement on the South’s website: "As a learning community, we strive for both academic and personal excellence, keeping our focus on the Core Values of Respect, Responsibility, Love of Learning, Creative Thinking, and Effective Communication."
“This could not be more aligned with the values I have promoted at my previous school and what I wish to instill in all students who come to the South Elementary School,” Mr. Dore explained. “I look forward to working with all community stakeholders, teachers, and students to continue to learn what is important to them while promoting these values in the future.”
Mr. Dore has a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (C.A.G.S.) focused in Educational Leadership and Administration from the University of Massachusetts Boston, a Master of Education in K-8 Literacy from Lesley University, and an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Boston University.
Mr. Dore was an active member of the school community in Chelsea, involved in running many extracurricular activities, like co-developing and coaching a boys after school running and fitness program, and serving as a stage crew director for the school musical. An avid Boston sports fan, and an even bigger Harry Potter fan, you will find him with a Dunkin’ iced coffee year round.
“The most important goal for me as Principal is for every student to be excited to come to school every day, learn something new every day and be able to identify something about themselves that makes them an expert learner,” Mr. Dore said. “The South School has a demonstrated history of success and I look forward to continuing these practices and looking for ways to push our success even further."
