Dear SPS Families and Employees,
Welcome to the start of the 2024-2025 school year! We look forward to continuing the work with ALL students each and every day.
Tuesday, September 3rd was the first day of school for teachers and staff. SPS employees gathered at Stoughton High on Tuesday morning for the annual convocation to start the school year, followed by meetings at their schools. For our students in grades 1-12, the school year begins tomorrow, Wednesday, September 4th, Kindergarten students start on Thursday, September 5th, and preschool students begin on Monday, September 9th. During the first days and weeks of school, please keep in mind traffic may be a bit heavier as we get back into our morning routines and also have several areas of town where roadwork is being done.
As we start a new school year, I also wanted to bring your attention to the 2024-2025 district calendar (in addition to the district calendar with key dates like holidays, vacations, and early release days, this page includes event calendars for each school as well). I also ask that you consider supporting our parent organizations, SEPAC, ELPAC, the Elementary School Building Committee, our student athletes, and our performing and fine arts students.
On August 13, 2024 the MA School Building Authority (MSBA) provided Stoughton the opportunity to seek another ballot question to fund a new elementary school building in town. We need your support more than ever. IT IS TIME TO COLLECTIVELY WORK TOWARDS THIS PROJECT. I look forward to updating you in more detail throughout this school year.
During the school year, I encourage you to follow our SPS Facebook and Instagram accounts for updates and a look at all of the wonderful things our students are doing each day.
As I enter my 33rd year in public education and 16th year as Superintendent of Schools, I continue to be excited about a new school year. I met earlier this morning with the SPS employees and welcomed them back by talking about “one child every day.” I know we have the professionals that will support your children and collectively I ask that YOU join us in this educational adventure. Public education is the great equalizer. I know this first hand.
With Regards,
Joseph F. Baeta, Ed.D.
